Padel has experienced an impressive boom in recent years, becoming one of the most popular sports worldwide. With its easy-to-learn, simple rules and the ability to be enjoyed at any skill level, it's no wonder it has gained so much attention. However, in order for you to enjoy worry-free padel matches, it is essential to properly maintain the padel courts. In this article, we will provide you with recommendations on how to keep your padel court in top condition and ensure the best possible playing experience.
Keeping your padel court clean is crucial. Leaves, dirt, dust, and other debris can affect the performance and safety of the court. Regular sweeping and wiping of the surface ensures that there is no buildup of dirt. In addition, a clean surface reduces the risk of slips and falls during play.
Cleaning the structure is important: Clean with water and neutral soap, paying special attention to the lower areas that are in contact with the floor and water and other elements, as well as the back areas of the glass where dirt and moisture penetrate, between the padding and the glass.
The padel court floor is critical to performance and safety. Make sure it is in good condition and that there are no cracks or spalling. An uneven or damaged floor can cause injuries and affect playability.
The fundamentals of a padel court must have been done in the correct order so that there are no future problems and that there are no sinkholes or unevenness.
Padel courts are often played at times that require artificial lighting. Lights should be in good working order to ensure safe and uninterrupted play. Perform regular maintenance on lights and replace bulbs when necessary.
Nets and posts are key elements in a padel court. Check that they are in good condition and that the nets are taut. Loose nets can affect the game and the players' experience. The posts should also be securely fastened and leveled.
The padel court net should be 88 cm high at the center of the court. If it is exceeded, the posts will have more tension than they should have and could damage the fixing of the posts. It is recommended to change the net once a year.
Use the proper tool for adjusting the net. We recommend a ratchet with an extension and a 30 mm socket wrench, so you can tighten from the top opening and not disassemble anything.
Normally, a padel court can last between 3 to 4 years before the grass needs to be replaced with proper maintenance.
One of the most important aspects for the maintenance of the court and therefore of the grass is the cleaning, but also the use of sand. Silica sand is used to stabilize the padel court and provide even playing conditions. While sand is recommended for all courts, the amount and granulometry of silica sand depends on the type of turf.
If no sand is used, the turf will be damaged by wear and tear due to the movement of the players or by the sun in the case of outdoor padel courts.
During the first 6 months, you should add about 100 kg of sand per padel court every month. This amount of sand may vary depending on the brand of grass.
Apply some force with the brush to separate the fibers and loosen the surface. Remove vegetation and remove debris, without using herbicides or tools that may damage the turf.
It is recommended to wet the lawn with rain effect, not with direct spraying, to settle the sand.
The windows should be cleaned with neutral soap and water. Special attention should be paid to the lower areas where the glass has contact with the ground, as well as the back of the glass where dirt and humidity can penetrate between the padding and the glass.
The chemical products used must not come into contact with the grass or with the silicone of the joints between the glass panes.
Also, check all glass panes to make sure there are no cracks. If there are any cracks in the glass, do not use the court until the glass has been replaced, as it may break due to temperature changes or player collisions during a match.
It is important to check the silicone applied on the glass joints every 3 months and renew it if it shows a yellowish color or peels off. In our padel court models, the only one that does not require silicone is the V-PRO Classic.
The recommended basic maintenance of a padel court is once a month (sand, glass, grass...). Depending on the use of the court, the maintenance can be spaced up to 4 times a year, in the case of courts with little use.
In summary, proper maintenance of padel courts is essential to ensure an optimal and safe playing experience. Cleaning, regular inspection, and timely repairs are crucial to keep padel facilities in excellent condition. By following these tips, you can enjoy exciting matches and keep your players happy.
